Two Timmins businesses are getting injections of cash.

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) has handed out $446,332 to Robert Rubino Trucking Ltd. and Missinaibi Drilling Services Ltd.

"NOHFC funding is increasing service capacity for our local mining and mineral sector, which will boost spending to local businesses and create new full-time jobs," said Greg Rickford, Minister of Northern Development, in a news release.

Rubino Trucking's portion of the cash is $283,953. The Porcupine company specializes in industrial hauling and float services and is using the money to expand its facility and trucking fleet. It will allow the company to increase service and repair capacity, reduce backlog downtime and get trucks back on the road faster, according to NOHFC.

Missinaibi Drilling Services' cut is $156,379 to buy another custom drill rig and other major pieces of equipment to help the company meet its contracts with mining companies.

The announcement was made by Timmins MPP George Pirie at Rubino Trucking on Highway 101 in Porcupine.

"Supporting businesses in the area like Missinaibi Drilling Services Ltd. and Robert Rubino Trucking Ltd. will help build a stronger, more resilient and prosperous community," he said in the news release.
