NEWS RELEASE

TIMMINS AND DISTRICT HOSPITAL

*************************
Aug. 2, 2017, was an exciting day for the Oncology Department at the Timmins and District Hospital with the donation of 50 patient comfort bags from Tina Girard, a Thirty One consultant here in Timmins.

Tina shared that she had many friends who were going through treatment and reached out to them to see if the comfort bags would be beneficial and what should the contents include.

Tina then proceeded to reach out to family and friends on her personal Facebook page and the response was amazing!

One of these friends, Rebecca Benson, was instrumental in helping Tina accomplish her goal. The initiative was shared, and with the numerous sponsors and her commissions, her goal of 20 comfort bags soon became 50.

The comfort bags are filled with “little things” that have been recommended by patients to provide comfort to someone who is going through treatment. The bags all have a tag from the sponsor which indicates “in honor of” or “in memory of” someone.

The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is a level C, fully accredited community, referral and teaching hospital serving the residents of the City of Timmins and Cochrane District as well as the adjoining areas of the Temiskaming, Sudbury and Algoma districts.

The hospital offers a full range of medical, surgical, critical care, maternity, newborn, pediatric, long-term care and mental health services as well extensive health education and district services.
