Timmins woman faces charges following suspicious fire

A Timmins woman is now facing various charges in relation to a suspicious fire which occurred on Birch St. N on October 14, 2015. Police and the Timmins Fire Department received the report of the fire at approximately 7:30 p.m.

A Timmins woman is now facing various charges in relation to a suspicious fire which occurred on Birch St. N on October 14, 2015.

Police and the Timmins Fire Department received the report of the fire at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The fire was quickly extinguished and deemed suspicious, and the investigation was taken over by the Timmins Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Section.

Further investigation revealed a history of domestic violence incidents between the victim and the accused.

Police learned that the fire had been set following a domestic dispute between the two individuals.

Fortunately, there were no injuries as a result of the fire; however it did result in extensive damage to the top floor of the residence.

A 33 year-old Timmins woman now faces charges including Attempt arson (x2), Uttering threats, Assault with a weapon (x2), Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Intimidation, and Arson – damage to property.

Due to the domestic nature of these incidents, the name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
