Discount retailer Dollarama is expanding yet again, this time filling a void in the Timmins Square.

It will be located in the western end of the mall in the 10,000 square foot unit formerly occupied by A Buck or Two, which closed its doors on March 31 after 15 years at the Timmins Square.

"The lease has been in works for some time. There's been a lot of behind the scenes planning to make it happen," said Timmins Square Property Manager Brenda McLeish.

"We look forward to them doing business here."

They took possession in mid-May and the store is currently under construction. Although McLeish hasn't been given an exact date, she expects the store to be open sometime near the end of June.

Dollarama currently has three other locations - Riverside Drive near Walmart, Brunette Road near Hollinger Park, and in the Porcupine Mall. There is no word if the move will effect any of the other locations.

The company is based in Montreal and operates over 1,000 locations across Canada. It sells every day items, party supplies, confectioneries, cleaning supplies, and more at fixed price points up to $4.

In other Timmins Square news, McLeish confirmed that Mark's Work Wearhouse will be returning to the mall.

The company took possession of a 15,000 square foot 'end-cap' unit on June 1 at the extreme west of the complex. It will be accessed solely through exterior doors, which McLeish says has become a standard company-wide.

Mark's Work Wearhouse is a clothing and footwear retailer specializing in outdoor and industrial brands.

"We're very excited to have them back," said McLeish, as the company was previously a mainstay in the mall before moving first across the road, and later down the road on Riverside Drive.

It is a full re-location, as Mark's will be closing their current location on Riverside Drive, near Home Depot and Canadian Tire.

Once again, she hasn't been notified of an exact date, but she expects it to be in operation also sometime near the end of June.
