Northern Ontario once again has a voice at a national board table.
Timmins Mayor Michelle Boileau has been elected to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) board of directors.
"This is a significant achievement and important not only for Timmins, but for Northern Ontario. Mayor Boileau will serve as the only representative for our region on the board's Ontario Caucus, providing a voice for the north and advocating on the national level for our local communities," said the City of Timmins on Facebook after she won the seat.

Last month, Timmins council endorsed Boileau putting her name forward for the two-year term. The city is covering all costs associated with attending the board of director meetings.
She was chosen for the board at the FCM annual conference, which was held in Calgary, Alberta, June 6-9.
