A Timmins man has been fined for illegally hunting moose.

Trevor Mercier pleaded guilty and was fined $1,000 for hunting moose during the closed season.

Court heard that on September 29, 2017, Mercier was actively calling moose while carrying a high-powered rifle. The gun season for moose was closed at the time.

Justice of the Peace Sylvie-Emanuelle Bourbonnais heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Timmins, on August 23, 2018.
