Timmins High unveils new track and field

The project took more than a year to complete

After more than a year of construction, the new track and field at Timmins High and Vocational School is ready for action.

District School Board Ontario North East chair Bob Brush and director of education Lesleigh Dye cut the ribbon for the $3.8 million project this afternoon.

Work at the site started in June 2018 and finished up in September 2019.

With work complete, the high school now boasts an artificial turf field, new soccer goals, a six-lane International Association of Athletics Federation certified rubberized track, and a long and triple jump area. There is also fencing, walkways, and the bleachers have been moved.
