Timmins Fur Council hosting workshop this weekend (2 photos)

If you want to learn how to tan your pelts or hides, this is your chance

Back in 2016, I wrote a piece on fur tanning for trappers and hunters that want to learn how to tan their pelts or trophy animal hides they had taken.

If you missed out on that seminar and are interested in learning how to tan your pelts or hides, the Timmins Fur Council will be hosting another tanning workshop on March 9 at the Legion Hall in South Porcupine.

The workshop starts at 9 a.m. and is being taught by Timmins Fur Council Executive Aaron Powers.

Those attending this one-day course will learn the process of self tanning their pelt/hide.

Coffee and lunch will be provided.

This is a very informative workshop, so I highly recommend bringing pen and pad to write down each step for a reference to have on hand when you go to tan your pelt or hide.

Registration is free to Timmins Fur Council Members and $25.00 for non-members.

There are still spots available, so if you are interested in taking this course, you can register by emailing Kaileigh Russell at [email protected].

If you're interested in something else to do this weekend, the 2019 Annual Pike Ice Fishing Derby hosted by MNF Fishing will be held on beautiful Mattagami Lake on March 9. For more information, please visit their Facebook page.
