Two Timmins Francophone groups are getting provincial support.
The recipients of the 2019-2020 Francophone Community Grants Program have been announced by Minister of Francophone Affairs Caroline Mulroney.
The program supports the development of Ontario's Francophone communities and was expanded this year to include not-for-profit and for-profit groups.
Centre culturel La Ronde is getting $20,000 for Ateliers sur l'agencement de mets et spectacle.
According to the news release, the initiative looks to "promote, engage and stimulate the local community through entertainment as well as education about food and music and their ties to the Francophone culture."
The Venture Centre is receiving $25,000 for the Femmes entre elles project.
The release said the cash will help create a "full-day conference for francophone women, designed to showcase the importance of women in leadership and entrepreneurship and to share experiences and best practices. The goal is to better contribute to the economic and social development of the region and its francophone communities."
Programs selected for the provincial funding will be held between Nov. 1, 2019 and April 30, 2020.
"The Francophone Community Grants Program is a central element of our government's plan to build the capacity of Francophone organizations across Ontario and those serving Francophone markets," said Mulroney in the news release. "By providing them with opportunities to implement impactful projects, we will help Francophone communities thrive and contribute to the overall prosperity of our province."
