There was a record start to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation's new monthly 50/50 draw.

September marked the start of the new year-long campaign, with a Timmins couple taking home $219,352.

The first winners are Jason and Alecia Demarell.

According to the hospital foundation, Jason bought tickets on the first day they were available.

"We have three memorable experiences with the Timmins and District Hospital; all three of our girls were born at the Hospital. The Doctors and Nursing staff did an amazing job," said the Demarells — who have been dreaming about being mortgage free, saving for their kids education and buying a boat — in a statement.

Money from the draw is being used to support the hospital's highest priority needs.

“We had a record kick off month, I’m excited to see where this takes us,” said Jason Laneville, TADH Foundation executive director. “The entire region came together to make this possible, not only by purchasing, but by spreading the news.”

October tickets are on sale now and have already exceeded the guaranteed $7,000 prize. At 10:45 a.m. Oct. 2, the estimated take home prize was at $13,640. Tickets are available until Oct. 29 at 11:59 p.m. The draw is Oct. 30 at 11 a.m.

Tickets are only available online, and can be bought here.
