Timmins cadet competes at provincial competition

Amée Caron has been in the program for three years

A Timmins cadet recently put their skills to the test.

Cadet Master Cpl. Amée Caron from the 1884 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps in Timmins was at the Cadet Regional Marksmanship Competition held April 12-14, 2024, in Trenton, Ont.

“I really enjoy everything marksmanship has to offer,” said Caron in a news release. “It’s always a unique and enjoyable experience, every single time.”

Caron joined cadets three years ago and was one of 140 competitors from across Ontario at the event.

“I find the variety of experiences and opportunities offered through cadets fascinating,” said Caron. “Especially considering how exclusive some of these opportunities are to only cadets.”

For the competition, cadets use the Daisy air rifle, which the Canadian Armed Forces says they learn to safely handle as part of their training.

More information on the cadets program, which is open to youth ages 12 to 18 years, is available online here.
