Terry Fox set out on the Marathon of Hope, a cross-country run to raise money for cancer research, in 1980.

"As we approach the 40th anniversary of Terry's Run, in this uncertain time, we hope you will take inspiration from Terry's shining example of hope, resilience and determination," reads the DSB1 letter from the Terry Fox Foundation.

"The road ahead may be unknown and unlike any we have ever been on, but together, we will take it one step at a time — just as Terry did."
