A Timmins organization is looking to match job seekers with disabilities to regional employers during a month-long awareness campaign.

The City of Timmins recently proclaimed October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

"October is our time for acknowledging and celebrating the workplace contributions of people who have a disability, and business successes and benefits stemming from hiring with a focus on diversity and inclusivity," said Ainslie Armstrong, vocational rehabilitation team lead with March of Dimes Canada and EmployAll.

She said October is also a time to "acknowledge there is still more opportunity and to keep raising awareness that it is critical for all businesses to review their recruitment process. There is a vast 'hidden' talent pool of highly educated and skilled people who are still too often overlooked."

Interested businesses or job seekers should contact EmployAll at 1-877-215-9530.
