NEWS RELEASE

TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE

Once again this year, the Timmins Police Service is proud to lend a hand to one of its most valued and enthusiastic community partners: Special Olympics Ontario.

Constable Bill Field and Deputy Chief Des Walsh were on hand today to raise the Special Olympics flag at Timmins City Hall.

Each year the Timmins Police Service takes part in providing support to this worthy cause in terms of active participation in the Torch Run as well as providing traffic escort for these athletes.

These athletes serve as proud ambassadors for the city of Timmins as they travel province wide and nationwide at Special Olympics venues to promote sportsmanship and good natured competition.

Every member of the Timmins Police Services salutes them in their pursuit of individual and team achievement.

The Timmins Police Service would also like to remind local residents that the Special Olympics Torch Run this year will be held on May 24, commencing at 4 p.m. at the CDSSAB building at 500 Algonquin Blvd East and proceeding through the city.

Added alertness and courtesy on the part of local drivers is being sought during the trek through the city..
