A local company is doing its part to help out the humane society.

Tomorrow (Jan. 25), Uride is donating a portion of its local ride fares to the Timmins and District Humane Society.

The Ride for a Reason initiative is one of the rideshare company's good deeds programs. For every fare on Jan. 25, 10 per cent will be donated to the humane society.

The company is also covering the adoption fee for a chosen animal at the shelter.

"Last year, I found a cat wandering the street in a terrible condition. I took the cat home, wiped open its eyes that had been sealed shut, gave it food and water, and watched it spring back to life. Afterwards, I helped find a family that could take great care of it. I still consider that experience a personal highlight of 2023," said Cody Ruberto, Uride CEO

“Animals deserve kindness, and we're happy to play a role in supporting local organizations that find these animals homes and long-term families.”

The initiative is being run in the 20 cities that the company operates in across Canada.
