Periods are a fact of life, and although menstrual hygiene products are a necessity, many women in our community, especially those living in poverty, simply cannot afford them.

United Way Centraide North East Ontario in partnership with OPSEU Region 6 Provincial Women’s Committee, and the PAD Petrol are working together to collect much-needed menstrual hygiene products to help those who are struggling.

“Today is Tampon Tuesday, a day that encourages conversation and raises awareness about an important issue that often goes undiscussed, but affects women of all ages in our community,” said Jennifer Gorman, manager Cochrane & Timiskaming Districts, UWCNEO. “Getting involved is easy and every donation, monetary or product, will help those struggling live with dignity.”

“We are collecting products throughout March, so there are many opportunities to get involved. Consider starting a collection drive at your workplace, school or community location,” says Maggie Wakeford, OPSEU Region 6 with the Provincial Women’s Committee.

All donations will benefit, PAD Patrol (Protection and Dignity Patrol), a local initiative established in November 2018. These donation can be dropped off at DSSAB 2nd Floor, Lemon Grass on Third Avenue and Aline’s Tea shop on Pine St.
