Meet a local author and enjoy a StoryWalk at Hersey Lake tomorrow.

The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten initiative is hosting an outdoor StoryWalk on Thursday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The storyboards will be posted on the Tamarack Interpretive Trail at the Hersey Lake Conservation Area.

The book being featured is local author Susan Reimer's Letters in the Woods.

There are two times for families to attend — from 10-11 a.m. or 11 a.m. to noon.

Reimer and illustrator Sara Thompson will be available to sign copies of the book. Children will also be given an activity to take home.

The event is part of the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, which was launched in January 2020 by the Timmins Public Library and three EarlyOn Centres in Timmins at the YMCA, NEOFACS, and Timmins Native Friendship Centre.

The self-paced program encourages families to read 1,000 books with their children before they enter kindergarten.
