This past weekend the Spruce Needles Golf Club defeated the Hollinger Golf Club who hosted the 2020 Bob Barrette Memorial Ryder Cup. Both courses selected 12 of its top golfers who qualified to play on their respective teams.

The competition went down to the final putt made by Spruce Needles Club champion, Kevin Legault, who drained the putt to get back to "All Square" against his opponent Nick Lalonde. Chris Cooke also made an important putt to solidify the win by defeating Kyle Lalonde 2 up.

This is the third consecutive year that Spruce Needles Golf Club has won the event led by club captain Marcus Richard.

The Hollinger Golf Club team led by captain Owen Rigg were down by three points going into the final day of the event. They demonstrated great resiliency and competitive spirit by winning six of the 12 singles matches and tying one.

Both teams battled the frigid temperatures and a course set up that challenged the golfers to the final putt. The final point total for the weekend was Spruce Needles winning 12 1/2 points to 11 1/2 points. The weekend events included two man best ball, alternate shot and singles match play.

Spruce Needles Golf Club will host the event next year as they will defend their title.
