Council has granted a rebate for the building permit in the amount of $5500. It was a heated debate between councilors and both had their points.

Councilor Todd Lever mindset was that you can't give away the farm to anyone who asks; Steve Black felt that it wasn't reasonable for council to decide who does and doesn't get away fee free and that there should be guidelines in place for these decisions.

Councilor Noella Rinaldo saw the issue a different way. She felt that the city would receive taxes from the structure and that the money would come back anyways. This is a small gesture in creating transitional housing for seniors.

All agreed that Spruce Hill Lodge was a fantastic organization.

Council voted and approved the rebate, 5 - 2. Steve Black voted against as he felt guidelines need to be in place and defined. Todd Lever also voted against the request.
