The deadline to apply for financial help to play sports in September is coming up.
The Sports for Kids fall sports application deadline is on June 10. The organization helps children ages four to 18 from low-income families play organized sports.
The upcoming application deadline is for basketball camp, baseball, soccer, dance, hockey, skating, martial arts, swimming or any sport that starts in September.
The applications are available at sportsforkidstimmins.com. Applicants need their 2021 notice of assessment line 15,000 and a pay stub or social assistance stub or deposit for April for all adults supporting the child. People must reapply every year as vouchers are distributed on an income threshold basis.
The Sports for Kids office at the Archie Dillon Sportsplex is open Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
On Aug. 29 at the Sportsplex, there will be a Welcome to Sports Night for local residents. There will be about 20 sports organizations taking registrations and demonstrating their sport.
The first 200 children between the ages of four and 18 years will get a gift bag.
