It's melting fast

People are waking up to a reminder that winter is coming.

Overnight, light snow fell in the Timmins area.

With a daytime high of 6 C today, it is melting fast.

According to Environment Canada, the forecast today is mainly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of flurries or rain showers.

For snowfall in early October, Environment Canada data shows there was 10.8 cm in 1981 on Oct. 1, in 1987 there was 8 cm on Oct. 2, and the greatest snowfall for Oct. 3 was 1993 when there was 3 cm of snow.
