Northern College and District School Board Ontario North East (DSB1) are proud to cohost a presentation by Senator Murray Sinclair on Truth and Reconciliation.

This virtual event will be free and open to anyone wanting to participate. It will take place on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed live on YouTube.

Northern College and DSB1 are working closely to support the healthy development of our communities. As education partners, we are mindful of the important role of our sector in repairing the relationships with Indigenous communities.

“It is our hope that Senator Sinclair's powerful message on the shared responsibility of restoring relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada is essential as we move forward together,” said Dr. Audrey J. Penner, President and CEO of Northern College.

Bob Brush, Chair of the Board for DSB1, continued, “We are so proud to join with Northern College to bring this incredible opportunity for learners and communities to come together and learn from Senator Sinclair.”

Murray Sinclair served the justice system in Manitoba for over 25 years. He was the first Indigenous Judge appointed in Manitoba and Canada’s second Indigenous Judge.

Senator Sinclair served as Co-Chair of the Aboriginal Justice Inquiry in Manitoba and as Chief Commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). As head of the TRC, he participated in hundreds of hearings across Canada, culminating in the issuance of the TRC’s report in 2015.
