Reduced road restrictions in Timmins are lifting today.

Starting June 2 at 4 p.m., commercial motor vehicles can travel on the roads affected by the seasonal half-load restrictions.

"Due to ongoing construction, commercial motor vehicles are required to use the standard truck detour along Shirley Street to Laforest Road and Highway 655. The removal of half-load restrictions does not change or alter the approved truck detour route for construction along Riverside Drive and Algonquin Boulevard. Roadways like Jaguar Drive, Government Road and Sandy Falls Road are not designated as truck routes, and road conditions can deteriorate quickly from repeated heavy truck traffic," reads a City of Timmins news release.

There are year-round heavy load limits for some city roads.

SEE: Year-round restrictions added to 11 roads

For the roads affected, it means commercial vehicles and trailers are limited to five tons per axle. Utility and road service vehicles such as Hydro One and city-owned vehicles are exempt from the bylaw.

The roads with year-round restrictions are Hydro Bay Road, Anderson Drive, Quirion Road, Davis Road, Jack Pine Road, Girl Guide Road, Racicot Road, McInnis Lake Road, Charland Road, Bertrand Road, and Urquhart Road. To run heavier loads in one of these areas, you'll have to apply for an exemption from the city.
