Timmins Police is asking for the public’s help to locate a murder suspect.

The afternoon of May 18, police were called to the scene of a vehicle fire in Gold Centre. After the flames were put out, police say human remains were located inside the car.

While the identity of the victim is being confirmed by a post-mortem examination, an arrest warrant has been issued for 41-year-old Richard “Ricky” Green of Schumacher.

Green is described as a white male, about 5’10” tall, 190 pounds, with a medium build. According to police, he has reddish brown long hair, usually worn in a ponytail, a reddish brown goatee and unkept beard. He has green/blue eyes.

Green is wanted for murder in the second degree, arson, theft of a motor vehicle, and indignity to a body.

“Although the identity of the deceased is not officially confirmed, investigators believe that the suspect and the person who is believed to be the deceased were known to each other. This is not a random act,” said Staff Sgt. Danny Charest.

Police are looking to talk to anyone with information on the whereabouts of Green.

If you see the suspect, Charest said not to approach him and to call 911.

“Although there is no specific information to suggest that he is a danger to anyone else because of the nature of his alleged crime on May 18, his behaviour may be unpredictable and he may be armed. He is currently evading police,” said Charest.

They are also asking anyone in the Schumacher or Gold Centre area who, on the afternoon of May 18, saw a 2006 Black Honda Civic, possibly driving erratically, to call police.

For the investigation, Brundy Avenue has been closed past Delost.

Charest expects that area where the fire was will be released today or tomorrow. The vehicle involved was removed Saturday.

“We did process another scene in Schumacher last night and we are still securing a residence in the Schumacher area pending the outcome of a post-mortem examination,” he said.

This is the second vehicle fire with human remains located inside in Timmins in the past month.

April 20, the bodies of the Robitaille-Gagnon family were located at the scene of vehicle fire on Price Road. Three of the victims were found inside the car, while another was found nearby.

“We have no reason to believe that there is a connection whatsoever,” said Charest.

Anyone with information relating to the crime should call Timmins Police at 705-264-1201 or Crime Stoppers at 705-268-8477.
