School board names new student trustees

They were recently elected by the public board's student senate

Two new student trustees will be sitting at the District School Board Ontario North East (DSB1) for 2022-23.

The public school board's student senate recently elected Hannah Carello as the Indigenous student trustee and Hayden Bedard as a student trustee. Both of them attend Timmins High & Vocational School. Iroquois Falls Secondary School's Josie Michaud will also continue to serve as a trustee for a second year.

“I am looking forward to my second term as student trustee and I am hoping to help strengthen and grow our student senate and achieve even more”, said Trustee Michaud," said Michaud in a news release.

Bedard is excited to be a trustee.

"I know that  together, we will be able to coordinate and work with each other to create a better environment for all  of DSB1," he said.

Carello is looking forward to working with the senate to "ensure that  students of DSB1 have the most opportunities available in school to thrive."

DSB1's board of trustees approved the student senate election at its April 5 meeting.
