The Timmins Food Bank's RIck Young is the 2021 Santa Claus Parade marshal in Timmins.

With the Santa Claus Parade just over a week away, organizers have named who will lead the annual event's return to Downtown Timmins.

The Timmins Food Bank's Rick Young is the parade marshal, announced the Downtown Timmins BIA today.

"Mr. Rick Young is truly an unsung Timmins hero. Since he founded the Timmins Food Bank in 2006 he has helped to serve an average of 110 families per week.   This means that he has led an extraordinary group of volunteers to serve almost 86,000 people. This doesn’t include his dedicated work in making sure that people in need have their basic furniture needs met through the donations that he receives," reads the announcement.

The Santa Claus Parade is at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Over 50 entries are registered, making it the largest parade ever, said the BIA.

The deadline to enter is tomorrow (Friday, Nov. 5).

This year's theme is North Pole Fantasy. The cost for parade entries is $40. For more details or to register, call 705-264-8733.
