Representatives from the Rotary Club of Timmins-Porcupine and Timmins & District Hospital attended the McIntyre Arena on Wednesday afternoon to kick off the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation’s 4th Annual Rotary Face Off for Funds.

With Foundation executive director Janna Burke as referee, ER physician Marc Roy faced off for a ceremonial puck drop against Darren Taylor, representing the Rotary Club of Timmins-Porcupine.

The Rotary Club also kicked off the event with a $10,000 cheque presentation for the title sponsorship of the fourth edition of the Rotary Face Off for Funds which will raise funds for our hospital’s emergency department.

“We are extremely grateful to have the Rotary Club as title sponsor of this signature event which will benefit our hospital’s ER and the community as a whole,” stated Janna Burke, Executive Director, TADH Foundation. “The Club’s three-year commitment as event sponsor of the Rotary Face Off for Funds is more than this generous financial commitment,” continued Burke. “They also provide valuable support on the planning committee and they run the bar for the Friday Night Ice Breaker.”

Face Off for Funds consists of 24 hockey games to be played consecutively beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 6 continuing through to the final game at 4 p.m. Saturday, November 7.

The Face Off for Funds Friday Night Kick-Off event will feature live entertainment by Jack & the Ripperz and a silent auction in the McIntyre Ballroom for the teams and general public.

Festivities will continue on Saturday with more hockey play throughout the day and conclude with awards presentations and silent auction winners at 5 p.m.

Community members from Timmins and surrounding areas are invited to register a team in this TADH Foundation signature event.

Team registration opens on October 5, 2015 and teams can either register online at www.tadhfoundation.com or by contacting the Foundation office at 705-360-6039.

Tickets for the Friday Night Ice Breaker featuring Jack & the Ripperz will be available beginning October 13th at Steinberg & Mahn or the Foundation office located in the Timmins & District Hospital.

The 4th Annual Rotary Face Off for Funds would not be possible without the hard work and support of our volunteer committee consisting of the following: Amanda Dyer, Gil Guillemette, Dave Kohtala, Dr. Rick Kvas, Fred Salvador and Darren Taylor.

About Timmins and District Hospital Foundation

From the James Bay coast to Engleheart, from Hearst to Kirkland Lake, Timmins and District Hospital is the beating heart of a vast, beautiful and vibrant region.

We hold the well-being of over 115,000 people in our hands...and they, in turn, hold our fate in theirs.

As the largest hospital in Northeast Ontario, TADH is poised on the brink of a new era in healthcare for this region.

To meet the growing and changing needs of the families we serve, the facilities and equipment of our hospital must be renewed. Not years from now, but now.

Outdated, cramped, with an aging building and obsolete equipment, TADH is long past due for a revitalization that will enable us to take our District’s healthcare into the future.
