Highway 101 between Schumacher and South Porcupine will be closed this weekend.
Sunday, Dec. 12 the road will be closed in both directions for about 30 minutes at Rae Hill. It will happen at some point between 9 a.m. and noon, according to the City of Timmins.
It's to allow Hydro One to relocate wires. Police will be on-site to direct traffic.
The alternate route between Timmins and South Porcupine is the back road (Gold Mine Road).
Director of Public Works and Environmental Services Ken Krcel said Goldmine Road is a priority roadway on the weekends. He expects it will be completely plowed and ready for any additional traffic during the closure.
"We will have our dedicated on call supervisor out on Sunday morning and we will ensure Goldmine Road is well sanded," he said in an email.
