Uride is one of northern Ontarios fastest growing tech companies. Started in Thunder Bay, Ont. in 2017, Uride has since expanded their rideshare app to seven cities. They have already started recruiting drivers in the Timmins.

“We’re excited to announce that Uride is finally coming to the Timmins! Since starting in 2017, we’ve had many people from Timmins reach out to us regarding the transportation challenges facing the city,” said Cody Ruberto, Uride founder and CEO. “In northern Ontario, we don’t have a lot of transportation options. In most of the smaller communities we operate in (Thunder Bay, Sudbury, North Bay, and Sault Ste. Marie), we used to see crowds of people stranded outside of bars on a Friday or Saturday night, with a one- to two-hour wait for a cab. With the Uride app, our passengers now have an average pickup time of under 10 minutes, and save quite a bit of money as well. Our mission is to prevent impaired driving in Timmins!”

Uride specializes in improving transportation in small and mid market communities, making sure no one gets left behind. Although their mission is to prevent impaired driving, they operate 24/7, 365 days a year. Passengers can expect to save between 15-25 per cent on the average ride fare.

Uride is currently recruiting drivers in the Timmins, and is aiming to do a soft launch before the end of the year.

Anyone wanting to drive can apply through their website.
