Report of vehicle 'all over the roadway' leads to charges

On Dec. 10, 2017 at 1:59 p.m., the Matheson Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol on Highway 11, south of Ramore when they received a traffic complaint regarding a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) all over the roadway.

The CMV was stopped shortly thereafter. As a result of the investigation, the driver, Jaspreet Singh Nagra, 24 years old, of Brampton, Ont. has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a schedule II substance - marijuana, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
  • Commercial vehicle - follow too closely, contrary to section 158(2) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
  • Drive motor vehicle - display screen of television, computer or other device visible to driver, contrary to section 78(1) of the HTA.

He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins, Ont. on Jan. 23, 2018.
