Report of aggressive driving leads to charges for Timmins man

It is alleged he failed to stop for OPP outside the city

On April 5, 2018 at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers from the Timmins Police Service were notified of an individual allegedly driving aggressively in the West end of the city. Reports indicated that the vehicle had failed to stop for Ontario Provincial Police officers outside of the city.

At approximately 5:10 p.m., police located the vehicle in question in the area of Croatia Avenue and Delost Street and affected a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged accordingly.

This incident is an example of great teamwork by the Timmins Police Service and our policing partner the Ontario Provincial Police.

As a result of the incident, Gavin Clement-Melanson, 22 of Timmins, faces charges of:
    •    Flight while pursued by peace officer
    •    Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled today, April 6, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins.
