HAILEYBURY - While an event with a popular academic and autism advocate is at capacity, people wanting to take part can still catch it online.

On May 28, Dr. Temple Grandin is the featured speaker for two events at Northern College's Haileybury campus.

"The work that she has completed in her field as well as her efforts to raise autism awareness is incredibly noteworthy and we feel honoured to have her speak at one of our campuses," said Mitch Dumas, Northern College president and CEO.

Grandin is an animal behaviourist known for her work on the humane treatment and slaughter of livestock. A professor at Colorado State University, she is also known as being an advocate for autism.

At the college, she'll be talking to over 60 veterinary technician educators from across the province. The presentation — Great Minds Are Not All the Same — discusses visual thinks and offers new approaches for educating, parenting, employing and collaborating with special minds and visual thinkers.

There is also a public talk in the Haileybury campus gymnasium on May 28 at 7:30 p.m. While it's sold out, you can join in online here.
