A thirst-quenching raffle is helping a Timmins club raise much-needed funds.

There is still time to buy a ticket for the Timmins Kinette Club's Cheer for a Year raffle.

The grand prize is $2,000 of Beer Store and/or LCBO gift cards. The second prize is a Yeti cooler and local brew six-pack and the third prize is $100 of Beer Store and/or LCBO cards.

"During COVID, our association has been keenly aware of the need to keep our communities safe and when we can, provide service in a safe way. We have ceased all in-person service to abide by the stay-at-home orders, however the needs in our community have not ceased," said Kinette Erin Thomson.

"The Cheer for a Year raffle is a way for us to raise the much-needed funds to support our endeavours."

The list of work the club does is extensive.

Thomson said they provide food and goods baskets to families in need and have donated baskets with food, clothing and gifts at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. The club supports the Anti-Hunger Coaltion Timmins, Kin Canada Bursaries, Terry Fox Run, Special Olympics, The Lord's Kitchen, PAD Patrol and other not-for-profits.

"All of these initiatives are in peril if we cannot raise the funds to meet those needs," she said.

"We continue to find innovative ways and are determined that our work does not stop even if we can’t be out there in person! By purchasing tickets, people make a true difference in the lives of their neighbours."

The Cheer for a Year draw is being held May 20. Tickets are $10 each and available by emailing [email protected] and you must be 19 years or older to purchase one.
