One of the candidates in the English public school trustee race has withdrawn from the race.

In a Facebook post, Steve Meunier said that due to "unforeseen circumstances" relating to his employment, he's had to withdraw from the race.

"While sounding very counter productive, please do not consider my name on election day as I will not be able to accept the position if elected. There are four other excellent candidates all of who would serve the school board well," he wrote.

Because it's past the cutoff time, Meunier's name will still appear on the municipal ballot.

Timmins clerk Steph Palmateer said if Meunier were to still get elected, it would be up to the school board as to how to fill the vacancy.

The remaining candidates in the race are: Bob Brush, Kraymr Grenke, Ken Steinbrunner, and Bill McGillis.
