Power outage affecting over 18,000 customers (UPDATED)

UPDATE at 10:30 a.m.

Hydro One is reporting power has been restored for some people. There are still 733 customers without power. Off-road conditions and the weather are hampering restoration efforts, according to a Hydro One notice. The estimated time for hydro to be restored is 2:15 p.m.

Over 18,000 people are without power to start Thanksgiving Monday.

Hydro One is reporting an outage in the Timmins area affecting 18,243 customers. The outage is affecting people across the city.

The company's outage map is showing two outages in Timmins.

The reason for the outages is not known yet. Crews have been dispatched.

One outage affects about 3,833 customers north of Ross Avenue and Jubilee. 

The second outage is impacting a good portion of the rest of the city (14,405 customers), extending from Kamiskotia Lake to Porcupine. The map shows that people behind the Porcupine Mall are without hydro, but Pottsville and areas further east are not affected.

At 8:30 a.m., the company is reporting the estimated restoration time for both outages is 10:15 a.m.

Nearby in the Foleyet area crews are also working on an outage affecting 513 customers. The cause of that outage is under investigation.
