A South Porcupine beach is unsafe for bathing, according to the Porcupine Health Unit (PHU).

A notice on the Porcupine Lake beach at the White Waterfront Conservation Area says the water has high levels of bacteria, which may pose a health risk.

According to the PHU website, staff monitor water quality for E. coli bacteria at public beaches during the summer.

"When water sample results show unacceptable levels of E. coli bacteria, warning signage will be posted at the beach to warn users that it is not safe to swim in the beach's water," reads the notice.
