Police vehicle stolen, taser used in arrest

On Sept. 15, at approximately 3:15 p.m., a Timmins Police officer responded to a call for service involving a suspicious person.

During the course of the call, a Timmins Police vehicle was stolen. A search for the vehicle was initiated with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police. At approximately 4:30 p.m., the vehicle was located in the area of Norman Street and Lafleur Boulevard.

The suspect was arrested via high-risk take down with a conductive energy weapon being deployed in order to gain compliance safely.

Fortunately, no injuries were sustained by involved officers or any member of the public.

The incident remains under investigation and charges are pending against the accused.
