On Sunday, February 23, 2014, police received reports from several concerned residents of a man who was in distress in the Airport Road area. Upon arrival on scene, it was apparent to officers that this man was in crisis.

Officers on scene were able to de-escalate the situation and through communication convinced the man to be transported to hospital.

The incident occurred in a high-traffic area, with several residents witnessing the situation. Officers stated a man in a white pick-up truck assisted by blocking the road until additional officers arrived on scene. This allowed officers to focus their attention on the man in distress without being concerned about their own safety or the safety of the public.

Although officers were not able to speak with the driver of the truck before he left, the Timmins Police Service would like to thank this resident for his assistance, as well as others for their patience during the incident.
