Police seize drugs, prohibited weapon. Man charged

HEARST – On October 23, 2015, the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with assistance from the Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Cessna Street in the Town of Hearst.

Police seized Cocaine, Methamphetamine, $270 in Canadian currency, as well as a prohibited weapon.

The drugs have an estimated street value of $2,000.

As a result, Regis HARDY, 33, of Hearst was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) (CDSA), as well as;
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine contrary to section 5(2) (CDSA), as well as;
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Hearst on December 9, 2015 to answer to the charges.
