Police kept busy over the long weekend

Over the Canada Day weekend (June 30 – July 3), Timmins Police officers were kept busy with over 300 calls for service. These included break and enters, disturbances, domestic disputes, missing persons, and thefts, among other incidents. Several of these incidents resulted in criminal charges.

On June 30, at approximately 3:40 a.m., police received a report of an individual who was allegedly breaching conditions of his bail recognizance.

Police attended the scene and further investigation revealed that the individual in question was bound by a recognizance of bail with conditions not to consume alcohol, or communicate with a victim.

Allan Corston, 34, of Timmins was found to be in breach of these conditions and was subsequently charged with Fail to comply with Recognizance (x3).

On July 3, at approximately 12:50 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious person in the area of Mountjoy Street South and Wilson Avenue. Officers attended the area and located the accused inside a residence.

Reports indicate the accused had entered the residence and threatened a victim. As a result of this incident, Gerald Caza, 48, of Timmins was charged with Break, Enter and Commit indictable offence, Mischief Under $5,000, Breach of Probation (x2), Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, and Uttering Threats to cause Death or Bodily Harm.

Both individuals were held in custody pending their respective bail hearings.
