A Timmins resident is facing impaired driving charges following an incident which occurred on Dec. 12, 2017.
Police were originally called due to an unwanted person at a residence in Timmins. Upon arrival, officers learned the individual in question was no longer on scene.
The suspect was located at approximately 3 a.m. Upon speaking to the individual, the driver of a vehicle, officers noted signs of impairment. Following the investigation, (a 30-year-old) of Timmins, faces multiple charges including:
• Impaired driving
• Fail to provide breath sample
• Drive while disqualified x2
• Drive while under suspension
• Use plate unauthorized for vehicle; and
• Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
Given the recent Festive RIDE Campaign kickoff, as well as the continuous messaging from police and other community organizations, the fact that individuals continue to drive impaired is extremely disheartening. The above charges mark the second impaired driver charged within the span of one week.
The Timmins Police Service urges the public to continue to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1, and continues to urge drivers to make the right decision – don’t drive impaired.
