The Timmins Police Board has a new vice-chair.

At its regular meeting March 8, John Curley was elected to the position by the board.

The position was held previously held by Darlene Lafontaine, who was a provincial appointee on the board.

“We have provincial appointees whose provincial terms have come to an end and are being replaced by the provincial appointee system,” said Mayor Steve Black, who is also the chair of the police board.

He said the hope is to announce the new appointees at the board’s next meeting, which is April 12.
