KAPUSKASING - Paul Lefebvre, Member of Parliament for Sudbury, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced a FedNor investment of $396,585 to help create jobs and a strong economy by supporting key agriculture and infrastructure development initiatives in the Town of Kapuskasing.
FedNor funding of $296,585 will enable the Kapuskasing Economic Development Corporation to complete upgrades and improvements to the community’s Agricultural Business Development Park.
Specifically, the funding will be used to install an elevator, grain bins, barn curtains and a ventilation system, as well as fencing to protect research areas.
This investment will also help improve information and communications technology at the Park. Once complete, this initiative will allow the facility to achieve operational efficiencies, attract new research and development opportunities, and support the long-term sustainability of this local asset.
The Town of Kapuskasing will also receive $100,000 to support vital infrastructure upgrades to the Kapuskasing Sports Palace.
The funding will help modernize this important community facility by adding a pool and ensuring it’s fully accessible, as well as energy and operationally efficient. Once the upgrades are complete, the Sports Palace will be capable of hosting regional and provincial competitions.
The funding announced today is provided through FedNor’s Northern Ontario Development Program, as well as the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.
