Beginning January 2014, expect to pay an extra $5 for parking in city lots.

Timmins Council passed an amendment to by-law 1973-196 for the increase. Presently the cost is $40 plus tax for one m0nth of parking except for the parking lot on Knox which is $10. These numbers go to $45 and $15 plus tax respectively.

Of course if you don't buy a parking pass, you can always pay via dispensing machine. Presently dispenser pricing is 25 cents for 1/2 hour. A change in the by-law will raise that to 25 cents for 20 minutes this January 2014.

The lots in Timmins include Third Avenue at Maple Street, Pine Street South between Second and First Avenue, Algonquin Blvd Lot where posted, Algonquin Blvd at Spruce Street, Second Avenue at Cedar Street and the Library at Second Avenue.

This a fraction of the price of larger cities however with a downtown that needs customers to survive, is the small increase enough to sway them away?

Unfortunately the cost of maintenance only rises for the city as it does for individuals, increases are inevitable.
