The Ontario Provincial Police confirmed Wednesday afternoon police found three bodies at the crash site near the mouth of the Pickerel River.

Police are not revealing the names of the victims, pending the notification of their families.

Earlier story:

Ontario Provincial Police are holding a press conference this afternoon after confirming they have located the missing Piper aircraft missing south of Sudbury since yesterday.

Const. Miles Loach said the aircraft was located in a “very wooded area” that is only accessible by helicopter. There was no information available on the pilot or the two passengers.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has deployed a team to the site of the crash.

Canadian Press is reported earlier today that "some parts" of the plane had been found south of Sudbury airport.

The OPP was advised the aircraft had experienced engine problems 20 kilometres south of Sudbury and 18 kilometres west of Key River.

The aircraft had to make an emergency landing, and radio contact was lost.

Joint Rescue Coordinator Centre sent an aircraft and helicopter from Trenton to locate and assist.
