TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO HTA  CHARGES

(SOUTH PORCUPINE) – The South Porcupine OPP has charged a 65 year old driver with a number of traffic offences stemming from traffic complaints received regarding a vehicle being allegedly driven in an unsafe manner on August 8th, 2013, on Hwy 655 north of Timmins.

An OPP officer had occasion to locate the vehicle that was the subject of a number of driving complaints received from motorists who had observed the vehicle being driven in an erratic and unsafe manner.

The vehicle’s driver was stopped and interviewed along with a number of motorists who observed the alleged offences take place on Hwy 655.

As a result, Emmanuel ABARA, 65, of Richmond Hill, Ontario, has been charged with:

-       Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

-       Fail to Surrender Licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

 

 

IROQUOIS FALLS OPP LAY Highway Traffic Act CHARGE

(IROQUOIS FALLS) – An officer with the Iroquois Falls OPP has charged a Timmins driver with a traffic offence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act stemming from an event on August 8th on Main Street in Iroquois Falls.

The OPP officer, while patrolling the downtown core of Iroquois Falls, came upon a vehicle being driven by a driver allegedly using his cell phone.

The driver was interviewed at the road side and based on the observations made by the officer, the driver, Roger GELINEAU, 54, of Timmins, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle While Using a Handheld Communications Device contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The South Porcupine OPP reminds motorists that the obligations to be safe and responsible while behind the wheel rests squarely on the shoulders of the individual driver.

Those motorists who insist on driving in contravention of the Highway Traffic Act can rightfully expect to face the consequences which include monetary fines and the possible acquisition of demerit points.

 

 

 

 

IROQUOIS FALLS OPP CHARGE SUSPENDED DRIVER

(IROQUOIS FALLS) – The Iroquois Falls OPP has charged a local man with a driving offence stemming from a routine traffic stop on Main Street in Iroquois Falls on

August 8th.

The OPP officer had occasion to stop observe that a 2007 Toyota Matrix passenger vehicle was being driven with an expired validation sticker.

Based on the routine investigative steps taken by the OPP officer, it was determined that an Ontario driver’s licence suspension is in effect in the driver’s name and that, allegedly, the vehicle was not currently covered by automobile insurance.

As a result, Alex DAVIDSON, 53, of Iroquois Falls, has been charged with Driving Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and Operate Motor Vehicle Without Valid Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The driver was served with summonses requiring him to attend Provincial Court in Timmins on September 12th to answer to the charges laid against him.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

The South Porcupine OPP reminds motorists that the obligations to be safe and responsible while behind the wheel rests squarely on the shoulders of the individual driver.  Those motorists who choose to drive while under suspension can rightfully expect a prompt and strict response from OPP officers who diligently patrol area roadways.
