IROQUOIS FALLS OPP LAY CRIMINAL HARASSMENT CHARGE

(IRQOUOIS FALLS) – An officer with the Iroquois Falls OPP has charged a local resident with a Criminal Harassment, Breach of Probation and Prostitution related offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada stemming from a complaint received by the Ontario Provincial Police on October 6th in the town of Iroquois Falls.

The OPP were called in to investigate the matter where a person is alleged to have repeatedly followed and propositioned a person for a sexual purpose.

The suspect was located and arrested and held for a bail hearing.

Ubald THERIAULT, 85, of Iroquois Falls has been charged with:

- Criminal Harassment contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

- Communicating for the Purpose of Prostitution contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

- 4 counts of Fail to Comply with a Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He remains in custody and must attend Provincial Court in Timmins on October 8th for the purposes of a bail hearing.

 

OPP LAY DRUG CHARGES

(GOGAMA) – The Gogama OPP has laid drug related charges against a Barrie, Ontario, man stemming from a routine traffic stop on October 5th at Hwy 560A near Shinning Tree, Ontario.

While on joint patrol with the MNR, a Gogama OPP officer had occasion to interview a motorist at the roadside.

Based on investigative cues observed by the officer, the motorist was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

As a result of a search under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act , the OPP officer located and seized approximately 10  grams of suspected marijuana, along with a quantity of cannabis hashish.

Todd GALLAGHER, 51, of Barrie, has been charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

The accused person was released from police custody but must attend Provincial Court in Gogama on November 19th to answer to the charges laid against him.

 

SOUTH PORCUPINE OPP CHARGE SUSPENDED DRIVER

(SOUTH PORCUPINE) – An officer with the South Porcupine Ontario Provincial Police has charged a Timmins man with Driving Under Suspension stemming from a routine traffic stop on October 4th, 2013.

The OPP officer had occasion to stop the driver of a 2009 GMC SUV for an alleged traffic violation on Hwy 101 west of Timmins.

 

Based on the routine investigative steps taken by the OPP officer, it was determined that the driver is currently under suspension in the province of Ontario.

Jonathan DESCHENES, 24, of Timmins, Ontario, has been charged with Driving While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

DESCHENES is required to attend Provincial Court in Timmins on November 14th to answer to the charge laid against him.

The vehicle was driven from the scene by a licenced driver.

 

OPP LAY DRUG CHARGES

(SOUTH PORCUPINE) – The South Porcupine OPP has laid drug related charges against two Sudbury area persons stemming from a routine traffic stop on October 6th at Hwy 101 west of Timmins.

While on patrol, a South Porcupine OPP officer had occasion to interview a motorist at the roadside due to a traffic infraction.

Based on investigative cues observed by the officer, the driver and passenger were found to be in possession of suspected cannabis marijuana controlled substances and arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

As a result of a search under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act , the OPP officer located and seized approximately 36 grams of suspected marijuana, along with other drug paraphernalia.

Eric HAMELIN, 26, of Sudbury and Brianna-Lynn RIDDELL, 23, of Val Caron, have been charged with one count each of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

The accused persons were released from police custody but must attend Provincial Court in Timmins on December 17th to answer to the charges laid against them.

 

OPP CHARGE UNINSURED DRIVER

(MATHESON) – An officer with the Matheson Ontario Provincial Police has charged an

Iroquois Falls, Ontario, driver with Operating A Motor Vehicle – No Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act stemming from a routine traffic stop on October 7th.

The OPP officer, while performing traffic patrol on Hwy 11 in the Matheson area, had occasion to observe the driver of a 2002 Pontiac Aztec SUV allegedly commit a traffic violation.

The driver was interviewed at the road side and based on standard verifications, it was determined that the vehicle was uninsured.

Stephane SAWYER, 37, of Iroquois Falls, Ontario, has been charged under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The South Porcupine OPP reminds motorists that the obligations to only operate those vehicles which are fully insured rests squarely on the shoulders of the vehicle owner.

Those motorists who insist on driving vehicles without insurance can rightfully expect to face the consequences which include monetary fines as well as other corrective measures.

 

[TEMISKAMING] OPP REQUEST ASSISTANCE LOCATING A SUSPICIOUS MALE/VEHICLE

(CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON)  Members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a suspicious male/vehicle in the area.  It is reported that two children were walking to school on Thursday, October 4, 2013 on Helmer Pederson Drive when a vehicle pulled up to them.  The male driver asked for directions to the arena for a hockey tournament and then further requested the children to get into the vehicle.

The vehicle is described as an older model red GMC extended cab with rakes and shovels secured upright in the bed of the truck.  The truck was muddy and may contain rusted areas.

The male driver is described as scruffy, dirty clothes and possibly in his 40’s.

The OPP are continuing their investigation to locate the driver and clarify his intentions.

If you observe this vehicle make attempts to obtain the licence plate number and any further description possible if safe to do so.

Assure to discuss with your children the concern for their safety and not to talk with strangers. The OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their surroundings, and that of children, at all times.
