OPP cruiser collides with moose on Highway 11 (3 photos)

Dusk and dawn are traditionally times of high wildlife-vehicle collisions

A Temiskaming OPP officer had a close call last night when he hit a moose on Highway 11, north of Temagami.

"Although a bit sore, he is OK," said the OPP Twitter account about the officer, not the moose.

Police remind everyone that wildlife is moving around in preparation for winter.

Dusk and dawn are traditionally times of high wildlife-vehicle collisions. Light levels are low, and animals are active at these times.

A mature bull moose may weigh up to 500 kg or 1,200 lbs.
