GOGAMA – An officer with the Gogama Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a 68-year-old Val Caron, Ontario man as a result of a traffic stop on Highway 144 on October 5, 2014.

While conducting traffic patrol of Highway 144 in the Gogama area, an OPP officer observed a vehicle being driven at speeds of 50 kms over the posted limit.

As a result of the traffic stop and police investigation, the driver, Andre Emile GIROUX, was charged with race a motor vehicle section 172. (1), as per the Highway Traffic Act. 

In addition his driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

He is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Gogama on November 24, 2014.
