Ontario reports 914 new COVID cases Friday

Today's update also includes 1,397 new recoveries and 19 deaths

Public Health Ontario has reported 914 new COVID-19 cases in its latest report (June 4).

Today's update also includes 1,397 new recoveries and 19 deaths. 

The June 3 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:

  • 687 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, down from 729 yesterday.
  • There are 522 patients in intensive care units because of COVID-19 (down from 546 yesterday) and 357 COVID patients on ventilators (down from 370  reported yesterday).
  • The province reported 32,258 tests were processed yesterday.
  • Of the new cases reported today, 214 are from Toronto, 169 cases are from Peel and 57 are in the Porcupine Health Unit region, which covers Timmins and area.
  • Today's cases include 231 individuals aged 19 and under, 370 people between 20 and 39 years old, 201 people between 40 and 59 years old, 92 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 22 people aged 80 and over.

Vaccines

  • There were 168,322 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday.
  • 9,661,327 doses of vaccine have been administered.
  • In total, 896,065 people have been fully vaccinated.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 534,675 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 516,396 recoveries and 8,820 deaths.

The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,597 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.

Ontario's average weekly incidence rate is 46.5 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 48.9 per cent from the prior seven-day period. 

Northern Ontario

In Northern Ontario, the breakdown of Public Health Ontario data is:

  • Algoma Public Health: 396 cases, weekly rate of  3.5 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 393 cases. There are five known active cases. 
  • North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit: 454 cases, weekly rate of 7.7 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 456 cases. There are 17 known active cases. 
  • Porcupine Health Unit: 1,504 cases, weekly rate of 248.1 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 1,482 cases. There are 318 known active cases.
  • Public Health Sudbury and Districts: 2,080 cases, weekly rate of 11.1 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 2,101 cases. There are 33 known active cases. 
  • Timiskaming Health Unit: 205 cases, weekly rate of 0 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 206 cases. There are no known active cases.
  • Northwestern Health Unit: 1,065 cases, weekly rate of 9.1 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 1,063 cases. There are six known active cases.
  • Thunder Bay District Health Unit: 3,266 cases, weekly rate of 43.3 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 3,252 cases. There are 61 known active cases.
